The Legend of Hope
People would often see her as she danced among the hilltops, but only for a moment. Most attributed her to a mirage or a trick of the mind and walked on by, yet some dared to follow. Her image forever imprinted in their mind, she lured them off their path. Deeper and deeper into darkness she would take them, a disappearing and reappearing figure in the night. She gave off a ghostly glow just bright enough for an unsuspected passerby to see. No one could resist her once she had chosen them. She could lead them wherever she pleased: into the darkness of the forest or up to the highest mountain top. Her promises, she never fulfilled fully, for she always lingered just ahead, always out of reach. Rumors abounded of this mysterious woman who would entice men into the shadows. Some say that people simply lost their ways stumbling off their path, yet others said it was Hope who led them into darkness. Whatever the reason, many a man vanished while taking the shortcut home through Black Grove's Forest. They simply disappeared, forever searching for the promise of Hope.
