Attack of the Giant Paint Tube by ABitMadInTheHead Attack of the Giant Paint Tube by ABitMadInTheHead
A massive sculpture I made last semester in my 3D class. Made out of paper and cardboard mainly. Some lettering was done by hand and the rest with a hand cut stencil! Very proud of that lettering!

Sorry for lack of activity here - I have been busy with new things but I haven't had time to get them up... that and the old things too.

Feel free to ask questions or critique :D

Love your paint tube!, how big is it? I am a fine arts teacher, and would love to do something like this for my students art show, for the entry!

ABitMadInTheHead, I love this giant tube of paint. I work for a museum that is celebrating its 40th anniversary in October. Would you contact me to discuss how you made this? We are looking to create an oversized artist's studio in a tent as our decor. My email is ksmith@brandywine.org
Thanks,
Kathy

yes it was, it is now in the dorm room as a decorative piece - off in the corner of course cause it is HUGE! thanks so much

And I take it Candice is your instructor?

haha, that's cool

nah, Chad Gunderson. I guess he just went around to all the instructors looking for the student work demonstrations of the concepts he liked the best.

hmm...that's odd but I guess. I just don't like my art circling without me being acknowledged - I'm very anti-art theft so yeah, kinda wish he hadn't of done that without at least crediting the artists he took from

oh >.<
I didn't think about that.
He told us he'd be taking pictures of our pieces for possible future use, but he wasn't even your instructor, so idk :S

yeah...not sure about that either...
I just hope he is responsible in how he handles things of that nature. I knew our teacher had our works but she was a grad and she probably needed them for her own education to show what her students were producing, etc.

That is cuh-razy. What the heck are you gonna do with it?! Show it to really drunk people and convince them they desperately need Lasik?

Very cool!

Just curious....did you cart that down to your local Hobby Lobby for that photo op?

lol - it was a Michael's! and it was required for my class that I take a photo of it in a sensible location (ignoring scale that is) and an unrealistic location too. I didn't bother posting the unrealistic location because I liked this one so much better

many thanks :D

You're welcome....but, now you have me curious. Would you mind at least telling what the other location was?

ooh sure, it was just my living room - our living room is very...um...well very highly maintained and colorless and I though it would be fun to metaphorically splatter paint all over the place so I did a picture on our couch and on our marbleized table.

I call the living room the "forbidden room" because we never use it so it has this haughty air about it - it is a big joke in the house

Lol....never lived in a house that had a pristine room and thank goodness color of some kind is a must in our family.

It wasn't really intentional but it happened somehow. I'm always trying to convince mum to let me start knocking out walls and get more storage for my ever increasing in size art habits.

The color thing I don't believe I will be able to alter though. She is a very monochromatic and modern person - it is just the style that is going to stay. I'm going to have a rainbow house when I get older though and rebel against a colorless childhood - lol. Well we do get SOME color honestly but I'm still going to rebel

You poor color starved child! She needs to fatten you up with that rainbow or two....lol. Black and white is for babies....pffft! Kidding and not....it's easier for them to process high contrasts and darker colors while their eyes are still developing, helps stimulate the brain....and yet, we all still do their rooms mostly in pastels? Go figure! And yes, I did my kid's room in blue....just got him some black and white toys and books when he was little.

No way could I live in a house full of white. Too much of klutz, I am, I am. I'd have horrible stains all the time and expensive cleaning bills to go with them....lol. :D

lol, actually quite an interesting fact. Though I doubt I will have kids, if I do I'm going to remember that one - no pastels - they are boring anyway.

And I might say the carpet it the only non white thing in our house - it is grey...and we do have wood floor in some areas but all our walls are white - EVERYWHERE!!!

lol - nope it is the real deal and it eats up WAY to much space! I have no idea how I will ever store it - it just doesn't fit into a corner very nicely! Thanks!

How about you - any art as of late?

lol yes it's really huge! :D But I like it!! If I had something like "my own art-room" I would love to place it somewhere in that room :D
lol I understand your problem - but it's soo nice!!

^^ finally I have vacation. 4th August was my last exam ^^. I am working on a big painting I started years ago ^^'. The Friday-Mosque of Herat - Afghanistan.
It's so much work.. I think I won't be able to finish it even this year..(before the next semester starts). But I'll try at least to get forward a bit.
I thought of also doing some calligraphies .. There are some things I'd really like to draw! Plus the other painting I started on March.
I think I will try to work on all of these and see how far I'll come insh. Maybe I will upload some WIP's. Especially the Friday-Mosque.. You haven't seen it yet at any "stage" ^^' - Or maybe I'll also just try to finish this one big painting.. I don't know yet. I'll just see what keeps going ^^

I'd love to see some WIPs - I have tons of stuff I want to post here when I get time. I have made a lot of jewelry pieces as of late so I have done a lot of experimenting. It has been great fun! Good luck with your endeavors and keep me posted about what you are doing :D
